Pastor Jay Brings the Message
As we consider Jay’s message this morning I believe that we will carry on where Jay left off last Sunday considering the message of God’s love; the scriptures tell us that love covers a multitude of sins, it also reminds us of some of the stories in the bible one of which is the story of the sons of Noah when he was discovered laying naked on his bed in his tent and found in that condition by his son Ham who of course could not wait to tell his brothers Shem and Japheth of his find. They, being of better moral fiber than brother Ham took a blanket and putting the blanket on their shoulders walked backwards into the tent and covered their father’s nakedness. This story is found in Genesis chapter 9:21-23. Scripture declares that love covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8). Love doesn’t talk about sin, doesn’t draw attention to sin, and doesn’t call a prayer meeting to discuss sin. Love walks in backward and covers sin. Some of us have a problem of sorts somewhat like Ham, rather than covering another’s sins, talk about them openly. The carnal man wants to reveal, the spiritual man wants to restore the carnal man is puffed up, with a false sense of pride, the spiritual man realizes how close he is to succumbing to temptation. Galatians 6:2 says this,
Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. What is the law of Christ? To love God with all your heart, and to love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:36–40). I pray that as we come to hear the message brought to us by Jay this morning, that we hear the words as if written to us and for us. It excites me to hear because it brings us back to reality we might tend to think that we are of more importance than we really are.
Scripture Verse: Galatians 6:2-5; Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For each one shall bear his own load.
Prayer Requests: Another week has gone by and our prayers for those who were missing last week will have been answered and our friends and family are back with us this week. I spoke again with Jenny this week with a good response and of course knowing that if she felt bad or had a bad reaction she would not admit to it. However God is good and it is my belief and strong enough to put it in writing, that there will not be any tumor to remove when the last bit of Chemo has been used up. Please continue to pray for Jenny and for Sandy and Don, and that the blessings will also fall on David and Ace.
Proverbs 3:5-7 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh And strength to your bones.
We still have many in this congregation unable to attend because of sickness, weakness. And some just the inability to travel. In speaking with Frances last week I was glad to see that she is doing better. Obviously she is weak but just to have her able to come and worship with us is blessing for us all. Continue to pray for the two of them, John and Frances and praise God for His touch on their lives. The same request is made by me for Miss Ginny. I don’t much mind caring for her now, as the alternative is not something that I am looking forward to. continue to pray for Mattie Buckley It seems to be an extra blessing when Mattie Buckley I seated in her spot first seat, west side, fourth row from the pulpit. After missing for a number of weeks. Bless God, there she was. Please continue to pray for Mattie. She is quiet but very comforting in her presence. Remember Ron Bledsoe, and those from the retirement center whose names I do not know but will be glad to include if the information is given to me.
